Effects of Adoption of Herbicides on Farmers’ Training in Ogbomoso Agricultural Zone
Abstract
This study evaluated effects of adoption of herbicides on farmers’ training in Ogbomoso agricultural zone. Multistage sampling procedure was employed for this study. The first stage involved random selection of two Local Government Areas from Ogbomoso agricultural zone. The next stage was random selection of two villages from each Local Government Areas. The next stage involved random selection of 30 respondents from each village. A total of 120 respondents were interviewed in this study. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics.
The findings indicate that the internees were the adoption of Gesaprin (2%), Basagran (1%) and Igrancombi gold (0%) were stated. The means was higher for adopters and than for non-adopters. Moreover, the difference were significant for extension agents (1%), friends and neighbors (1%), advisory bulletins (10%), farmers organization (10%), pages of newspapers (10%) and radio (5%). It is concluded that the adopters were better informed than the non-adopters. Therefore, farmers are advised to adopt the use of herbicides in weed control.
